Me- What is your best price on that '13?

Dealer- I'm only authorized to give you the sticker price. But I can forward an offer to my manager and he can get back to you.

What I want to say- What? You don't need authorization to give me the sticker price. It's the Goddamn sticker price! Why the hell am I talking to you?

What I actually say- Well, I have an offer for 28,500 on a 14. If your manager wants to move the '13 he is going to have to beat that price by at least a thousand dollars.

I haven't heard from them.

I'm confused.

He said he's only able to give you the sticker price, and you're bitching about him not giving you the sticker price.

I think he is trying to state how stupid it is that the salesman says he is "Authorized" to divulge information that a customer can walk up and read for themselves or just google.

Things I want to say when I finally have the money to buy a car:
"I hope you remember the long lost art of the haggle."
I'm hoping to get a 500 Abarth one day, so an Italian should have no problem remembering what haggling is.

As Devil said, plus I think the point is rarely will the dealers have a pricing that forefits their possible markup and other saddled costs they like to use as leverage...such as the delivery price.

After working at a dealership that as a matter of policy would take off the destination fee and honestly sell AT the manufacture sticker I wouldn't do business at a place that would force me to negotiate with those things.

MSRP, or sticker price is not the price you want to pay. Essentially dealers have 2 ways to make money on a new car, the difference between invoice and MSPR and holdback. For example, Brand X sells a dealer a car for $25,000 with an MSPR of $27,500. Anything over $25,000 is profit for the dealer. Brand X also offers dealer holdback. If they sell the car within 30 days they get an additional $xxx from the dealer. 30 - 60 days $xx, 60 - 90 $x. Essentially pushing the dealer to move the cars faster. I usually fight tooth and nail to get a car at or near invoice, the dealer will make money on holdback and on the money he will get from fucking me on my trade (they all fuck you on your trade so just pre-lube and grab your ankles).

I usually would take that as a sign of weakness from a salesperson, if your manager does not trust you enough to work a deal, you probably should look for a new career.

I'm bitching he can't give me the sale price. No one sells Hondas for MSRP.

I'd totally hire a 3rd party negotiator to haggle for me. I hate haggling.

I was on a test drive with a guy doing 40 on an on ramp, he put it to half throttle and it laid patch up the on ramp. Like, actually made black marks, not noise. I have a lot of respect for this mini semi.

Plus DAT INTERIOR.

Good deal. If it ever stops snowing down here (South Western Ontario), you can hook the dogsled to the wagon and get one. How far up are you?

North Bay, it blizzarded(?) last night for a few minutes then went away. But it honestly hasn't been more than cautious driving couldn't deal with, and worst comes to worst, I could just drive a worst-case-scenario beater. One of the customers where I work is a pilot and DD's his 2013 Miata in summer and a Pontiac Sunfire in winter. So there's always that option.
